Textbook Returns

Textbook Return for refund in original form of payment Through Saturday, January 26, 2019


Textbooks --new/used/rental -- with an original register receipt, may be returned for a full refund in the original form of payment from date of purchase through Saturday, January 26, 2019. Books with any use or damage may not be returned. All new books must be returned in new, original condition. Shrink-wrapped textbooks or packages must be returned in their original, un-opened shrink wrapping. Note: eBooks can only be returned if the ebook has not been downloaded.


Textbook Return for Store Credit with proof of Dropped Course January 27 through 5 pm Friday, February 1, 2019


If the student drops a course between January 27 and February 1, 2019, that course’s textbook(s) may be returned for store credit until 5pm on February 1 st under the following conditions. The student must supply:

  • the textbook(s) in original condition (see above),
  • the original receipt, and
  • a print-out of the student’s “Add/Drop Classes” page, which student must print out from mySwarthmore/Registration. The student’s “Add/Drop Classes” page must show that between 1/27/19 and 2/1/19 the student dropped the course for which the returned textbook is required. Please note that showing the page online is not sufficient; the student must submit the printed page. No other proof of dropped course will be accepted.

The purchaser will receive Store Credit. (Exception: If the textbook was purchased through a Swarthmore College fund account, the credit will be returned to that fund.)

General Merchandise Returns

General merchandise items may be returned at any time for a full refund. A receipt is required for all refunds and all items must be in new condition. Without a receipt, merchandise may be exchanged for store credit at the discretion of the Bookstore staff. If you are mailing a return to the store, please provide a receipt and contact information, and specify the item you would like in exchange.


Rental Agreement

You have entered into a rental agreement with the Swarthmore Campus & Community Store to loan you for the current semester one or more course materials, as indicated on your receipt. By paying for the rental, you indicate your acceptance of the following agreement:

I understand that this rented item is the property of the Store.

I will not reproduce any part of this course material. Rental course materials are copyrighted as the intellectual property of the author(s).

I will return this course material in appropriate condition reflecting reasonable use, with minimal writing, highlighting, or notes.

I agree to be billed for and pay the full publisher’s price of the material if any part of the rented item is heavily marked, damaged or missing.

I agree to be billed for and pay the full publisher’s price if the item is not returned by 4pm on the last day of exams.
